What's in a name?

I have been super busy and bad at updating our blog but I do have a change to tell ya about...especially if you aren't on facebook. When we got Xiao Qi home and started to call her Lola it just didn't fit her ! She also hated it , it seemed as she would say " Bushir" (that's a firm NO in Chinese) when I would call her that. After a couple weeks it was obvious to us she did want an english name but it wasn't going to be Lola. Jarrod and I gave her a short list of 3 names to choose from each with Xiao Qi for a middle name. Eva , Piper, or Ayvah. She liked Eva and Piper. Well to make a long story short, it came time to bless her at church and we really wanted to make a decision then and there that she would be happy with. How cool to choose your own name! She is 4 after all and very opinionated. The English was coming very quickly for her and her little sentences were enouph of a mix of English and Chinese that communication wasn't hard. She always made her point with VIGOR...lol!!So the Sunday came (Jan. 31) and it was time to bless her at church. I told Jarrod he needed to decide..him and Xiao Qi and to not tell me...just do it! So he did..... And so her name is Piper Leigh Xiao Qi Mallory. I am happy because it was my my favorite of the 3 and she loves it. She came home and announced that her dolly can be Lola but that SHE was Piper Xiao Qi:) Yay for happy endings...

Somehow I knew that was coming! What a wonderful name! We didn't even think about blessing Faith. We associated that with babies, how did she do?

She did great. YES go bless her! She needs a name and a blessing from her Baba!! It was perfect. We just did it in the bishop's office with just close friends and family. Amazingly she sat peacefully on my lap through the whole thing. There was a very special spirit there that day.
